2. Lack of offensive cohesion

While the Chicago Bulls have shown some offensive improvement under Hoiberg, this team isn’t nearly as good offensively as perceived. In 2017-18, their 103.8 offensive rating ranked them at a lowly 28th overall. In the midst of the 3-point era, Markkanen and co. were sixth in attempts from beyond the line. However, in overall field goal percentage, they were dead last.

Markkanen should be the center of everything the entire organization is doing. He’s the franchise centerpiece at this point. While Carter should be the perfect complement for Markkanen both offensively and defensively, the same cannot be said for Parker and LaVine.

If the Parker-LaVine pairing is successful on the offensive end, the Bulls may find success. However, that’s a big if, especially since their coexistence also means Lauri Markkanen is thriving.

The significance of the Parker and LaVine signings is that while they are talented scorers, they both need the ball in their hands to produce. This could cause problems, especially if both see themselves as the top offensive threat on the squad.
