3. The youth movement continues

While the perception that the young Bulls are ready for the bright lights of the postseason exists, reality bears mentioning that this is just year 2 of the rebuild. These things take time.

While fans and even some within the front office are impatient, the Bulls are still molding the roster for future success. This team simply isn’t ready for the big stage yet.

The drafting of Carter and Hutchison, as well as the signing of hometown hero Jabari Parker, expedited the enthusiasm regarding Chicago basketball. With Lauri Markkanen and Zach LaVine in tow, this young squad should bring the United Center to its feet with a strong offensive display.

While Carter hosted a block party in NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, the Bulls and their fans would be wise to exude a healthy level of patience this season. The talented roster is loaded with potential, but we’ve yet to see them work together much on the court.

The key question surrounding this youth movement is who will emerge as the leader of the team. This is a young group lacking a veteran voice, both in the locker room and on the court. Of the 20 players on the training camp roster, only two (Robin Lopez and Omer Asik) have more than five seasons of NBA experience.
