2. Lead the league in assists again

In spite of standing just 6’0″ tall, no point guard in the game has proven to be better at finding opening and gaps within opposing defenses than CP3.

Paul — who eclipsed Andre Miller for ninth place on the all-time assists list last year — has dished out 8,708 dimes in his 13-year career, and finished each season among the top 10 in assists per game since coming into the league.

Despite all of his noteworthy accomplishments, Paul concluded the most recent campaign of his career with his lowest assist output in 13 years, as the former Wake Forest product failed to accumulate nine assists per game for the first time since 2007.

Although Paul’s drop-off in the assists department could be contributed to his time spent playing off the ball alongside Harden, finding a way to lead the league in assists again for the first time in four years would make for quite an accomplishment in Houston. The Point God will be asked to create and generate scoring opportunities for the likes of Carmelo Anthony, Eric Gordon and Clint Capela, among others.

If James Harden could lead the league in assists within D’Antoni’s system, then why not Chris Paul in his second season with the team?
