3. First round picks have potential to contribute from day one

With the seventh overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Bulls selected Wendell Carter Jr. During his lone season with the Duke Blue Devils, Carter compiled averages of 13.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per contest on 56 percent shooting from the field.

While the scoring may not be overly impressive, Carter did show rim protecting potential as he averaged 2.1 blocks per outing at Duke, which is one of the reasons why he was on the Bulls’ radar. Throw in the fact that he averaged 2.6 blocks per game and converted 42.9 percent of his looks from downtown during NBA Summer League, and it’s easy to see why the team felt good about taking him at No. 7.

Meanwhile, Chandler Hutchison finished his collegiate career on a high note, posting averages of 20.0 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest. This was quite the accomplishment, considering he was not a double-digit scorer in his first two seasons at Boise State.

Although his scoring average and overall shooting percentage dipped a bit during Summer League, Hutchison still pulled down seven boards per outing and he shot a respectable 50 percent from 3-point range.

With that being said, the Bulls have selected two rookies who have the potential to contribute from day one, which should help the team add to its win total from last season.
