Cleveland Cavaliers: 5 Predictions for the 2018-19 NBA season
By Tony Pesta
2. The Cleveland Cavaliers make the playoffs
History has not been kind to teams that lose LeBron James. Every time he leaves a franchise, they experience a down year. When he left the Miami Heat, they failed to make the playoffs for the first time in six seasons.
Furthermore, it took the Cavaliers four seasons to return to the postseason after James left them.
The 2018-19 Cleveland Cavaliers could be the first team in NBA history to make the playoffs directly after losing James. This may not seem like a notable achievement, but it means a lot to Cleveland fans.
No one wants to watch their team struggle for years as they rebuild. The fans want this team to be competitive right now. Being competitive is exactly what the Cavaliers will be able to do.
This roster is stacked with young talent and proven players. Kevin Love is still an All-NBA level player and he will be looking to put that on display this season. Then, you have a slew of solid role players who can put up solid numbers.
The mixture of veteran experience and hungry prospects will get them wins. This team isn’t looking to tank, they want to win as many games as possible.
The Eastern Conference is wide open for the bottom seeds. A race for the six to eight seeds will be up for grabs to any team. The Cavaliers will find themselves right in the mix for a playoff spot and I believe they will secure one.
