Cleveland Cavaliers: 5 Predictions for the 2018-19 NBA season

3. Collin Sexton will win Rookie of the Year
The centerpiece of the Cleveland Cavaliers rebuilding process is their newest rookie, Collin Sexton. This entire organization will be depending on him to show star potential.
Sexton has already become beloved by the city of Cleveland.
His scrappy “must-win” attitude that he displayed in the 2018 Las Vegas Summer League helped him win over a large number of fans. He played superbly throughout the tournament and was one of the best prospects through the whole thing.
How Sexton performs this season will be huge. He has the potential to be both a premiere defender and slasher in the NBA. His blazing speed reminds me a lot of a young John Wall. If Sexton reaches his peak, he could be a star.
Assuming everything goes according to plan, Sexton could average close to 15 points and six assists per game. If his defense is notable and he elevates the play of his teammates, he may get his name into the Rookie of the Year conversation.
All it will take is a few big games from Sexton. If there are any moments in which he wills this Cavalier team to victory en route to a playoff birth, his argument for the award would be strong. It’s very possible he could walk away this season with Rookie of the Year honors.
