1. Win Sixth Man of the Year
Hey these are goals, right? There’s no doubt that Bobby Portis is one of the best bench players in the league. His energy and tenacity off the pine is contagious and fuels the second unit. With Portis backing up Markkanen, the Bulls shouldn’t miss a beat when the Finnish big man gets a breather.

It’s obvious that Lou Williams of the Los Angeles Clippers and Eric Gordon of the Houston Rockets are perennial favorites to win the award for top bench player. That still doesn’t take away from what Portis should be able to accomplish in the upcoming season. If he does achieve the first two goals, shooting 40 percent from deep while averaging 16 points and 8 rebounds a game, his candidacy will have legitimacy.
This is an important season for Bobby Portis and the Chicago Bulls. It’s quite possible that this will be his final season in Chicago as his restricted free agency looms. If he plays to form, and the Bulls are unable to lock up the young forward to a long-term extension, Portis could be playing elsewhere next season.
Let’s see if he can take home some hardware before he needs to make any decisions next summer.
