Houston Rockets: 3 goals for Clint Capela in 2018-19
2. Improve free throw shooting
In spite of making tremendous strides from the free throw line for the third straight year, Capela showed that he still has a long way to go during one of the most critical moments of the season for the Rockets, missing freebies at a time in which his team needed each and every one to fall.
After scoring 14 first half points in Game 7 of the 2018 Western Conference Finals, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr decided to re-apply the Hack-A-Capela strategy at a moment in which the defending world champions desperately sought to find momentum in the heavyweight contest.
Capela — who shot a career-high 56 percent from the charity stripe during the regular season — missed four out of his six foul shots in the second half, on the way to shooting a league-worst 47 percent from the line during the playoffs.
Although Capela managed to produce an impressive campaign last season, no one can deny that the Swiss Roll must continue working on his shooting at the free throw line. Failing to convert these open looks at critical junctures could determine whether or not the big man is able to see the floor in crunch time.
