Houston Rockets: 3 goals for Clint Capela in 2018-19
3. Play 30 minutes or more per game
Although most NBA franchises would desperately crave to possess a 5-man of Capela’s stature, one cannot help but wonder how the 6’10”, 240-pound force may have fared with more minutes last season.
Capela — who averaged a double-double stat line for the first time in his career — averaged just 27.5 minutes per game for Houston last season. Though he finished the year ranked within the top 15 or better in Player Efficiency Rating and True Shooting Percentage, he struggled at times to stay on the floor for extended minutes due to encountering fatigue issues.
"“He can get better with his endurance.” Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni told ESPN ‘s Tim MacMahon when asked about Capela last season. “When he does that, when you say what the modern center should look like, it’ll have his picture there.”"
Should Capela find a way to improve his all-around stamina, there is a strong possibility that the $90 million man could very well be in for yet another career year. Doing so would likely help him accomplish one of his personal goals sooner rather than later.
