Power Forward: Draymond Green

Honorable Mentions: Blake Griffin, Kevin Love, Carmelo Anthony

Stephen Curry is the best player on the Warriors and a natural foil for LeBron, but like Durant, he’d almost be too fitting. For fear of riding the “LeBron vs. Warriors” angle we already see in real life every year, and since CP3 has the inside track at point guard as Bron’s buddy, Curry is out.

Klay Thompson is fun, but it’s probably best not to show America what a high Monstar looks like. KD is a friend and competitor of LeBron’s, but flipping from touching genuineness to petty comments in a media scrum or via Twitter burner accounts doesn’t necessarily make for a great character. Plus, if we put KD on another super-team, the jokes would be unbearable.

More from Hoops Habit

No, if we’re looking for the Golden State representative who needs to be in Space Jam 2 as a natural opponent for LeBron, it’d have to be someone who’s great on camera but isn’t too good to remind everyone of the annual King James-Warriors battles. Draymond Green is that guy.

Love him or hate him, Draymond is the perfect inclusion for that very reason. He talks s***. He celebrates after big plays. He’s an actually extremely good player and has become the face of small-ball in the NBA. Everyone knows who he is, he’s certainly not shy in front of a camera, and because he says and does so many ridiculous things, he’d be a natural fit in a wacky movie like this.

Deep down, he and LeBron both have a great deal of respect for each other. Whether you’re a Draymond Green apologist or a hater, it’d be incredibly entertaining to include the most volatile member of LeBron’s personal tormentors in a movie populated by Looney Tunes. Just imagine his pudgy Monstar “inadvertently” kicking Porky Pig right in his pork chops!

There are just too many possibilities for great TV here. Blake Griffin is tremendously funny, but might already be over the hill as he loses athleticism. Carmelo Anthony is a Banana Boat member, but is definitely over the hill. Kevin Love gets a shout-out, but nothing more, especially with this movie needing some type of Golden State representation.

Curry is the most recognizable Warrior and KD makes more sense on paper, but Draymond Green would be the most entertaining and unique inclusion. Since CP3 and Giannis already stole Curry and Durant’s spots, someone from Golden State needs to be on the roster.
