4. Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves are a sleeper team on this list. They may not be in the running for Lee on the offset, but if the Jimmy Butler rumors pick up, Lee could come into play.

The Knicks are looking to add superstars around Kristaps Porzingis. Kyrie Irving is reportedly their No. 1 option next summer. However, their pursuit of him would be easier if another superstar was already in place. That player could be Butler.

Butler and Timberwolves’ head coach Tom Thibodeau met in Los Angeles to talk about his future.

Depending on how that conversation went, Butler could be on the move sooner than later for the second consecutive offseason. If he is made available, the Knicks could get into the sweepstakes with a package around Lee.

Over at Bleacher Report, this trade was proposed and it is one the Knicks should consider. A package of Lee and Frank Ntilikina could get the attention of Thibodeau. Given the defensive prowess of both players, they would fit into his game plan well. Also, they would help keep the Wolves competitive in the Western Conference.

If Thibodeau would like to continue adding former Bulls players to the Timberwolves roster, Joakim Noah could also be had.
