10. Reggie Jackson, Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons seem like the most likely team to claim the vacant playoff spot in the Eastern Conference after the Cleveland Cavaliers lost LeBron James, but they’ll need a healthy Reggie Jackson to do so. There’s no question they’ve been a different team in the win-loss column with their starting point guard available.

In the three full seasons since he was traded to Motown, Jackson played in 79 games to get things started, but only appeared in 52 and 45 games over the next two years. From knee problems to a right thumb injury to an ankle sprain, Jackson has been unable to stay on the court long enough to help the Pistons build any real momentum.

In the last three seasons, Detroit has gone 93-83 with Jackson on the court, and its 44-win season (and last playoff appearance) came when he played 79 games. Conversely, the Pistons have posted a 27-43 record without him available. To end the playoff drought and get people excited about Detroit Basketball again in a new arena, Reggie Jackson has to stay healthy.
