3. Danilo Gallinari

I can already hear the outrage. You can’t trade an untradable contract! It’s a common refrain, even though this is a league where Timofey Mozgov has been traded three times since signing a four-year, $64 million deal.

While Tobias Harris is a risk to walk this summer, the team seems to really value him and would like to keep him around. They could free up the cap space to sign a free agent and retain Harris, so gaining additional flexibility should be a priority regardless of team direction.

This is where moving Gallinari comes into play. The biggest issue with the talented small forward has been his issues with staying healthy. He is just two years removed from scoring 19.5 points per game with the Denver Nuggets, but hasn’t played more than 63 games since the 2012-13 season.

In theory, the upside of Gallinari could be of some benefit to the Clippers. However, with Tobias Harris in the mix, there just isn’t a real role for him on the team.

While the Clippers won’t get much in return for him, there may still be a market for someone with his skill-set. For teams that don’t have future cap space available and a finite amount of resources to improve, taking a shot at Gallinari might be worth the risk.

If the Clippers can get less guaranteed money long-term from another team, I could see Gallinari in another uniform by the trade deadline.
