3. Make 160 3-pointers in the regular season

Otto Porter Jr. is a proven 3-point threat for the Wizards. That’s been one thing that can’t be denied. He’s shot over 40 percent from 3-point range in the past two seasons and has continued to improve as the seasons have progressed. Entering this season, he’s shooting 40.4 percent from beyond the arc in his career.

In 2018-19, he’ll need to be aggressive as ever with his 3-point shot. Surprisingly, Porter’s 3-point total was down to 138 makes in 2017-18. In 2016-17, he drained 148 3-pointers, while shooting 43.4 percent from the arc. He shot 44.1 percent from 3-point land in 2017-18.

While his percentage was up last season, his 3-point attempts dropped to 313 while his attempts per game dropped slightly to 4.3. It looks minimal, but it speaks to a slightly bigger issue. The Wizards tended to go away from Porter in the fourth quarter of games in 2017-18. He didn’t appear at all in 15 fourth quarters during the regular season, appearing in just 62 total for the year.

Porter was a bit gun shy with John Wall out of the rotation last season. With Wall back and hopefully healthy, the Wizards should look to use Porter more toward the end of games. On the flip side, Porter also needs to look to become more of a playmaker with the ball in his hands.
