Otto Porter Jr. played quality minutes for the Washington Wizards last season. Now, he’ll need to show even greater growth entering his veteran years.

Washington Wizards forward Otto Porter Jr. had an interesting summer prior to the 2017-18 season. The Brooklyn Nets went all in on Porter, forcing the Wizards to match their four-year deal for $106.5 million. In the end, Porter had a decent season for Washington, but they’ll need him to do more as their third option.

Porter put up 14.7 points per game last season, slightly up from his 13.4 points per contest in 2016-17. He wound up missing the final game of the postseason for the Washington Wizards, as they fell to the Toronto Raptors in six games in the first round. He underwent surgery to address blood flow in a leg contusion he suffered, but he should be healthy for the upcoming season. He’ll need to remain at optimal health for the Wizards if they hope to get over the hump.

With no LeBron James in the Eastern Conference, the early favorites are the Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers. Those projections will only be more fuel to this Washington squad to perform at a high-level. They’re a squad that missed the presence of John Wall for 41 games last season. By the time the playoffs arrived, Porter had his own injuries to deal with.

Everybody is healthy and hungry to win in this Washington Wizards rotation for 2018-19. Entering his prime years, Porter should be looking to turn a corner this year. Here’s a look at three goals for Otto Porter Jr. in the upcoming season.
