5. Ntilikina is overshadowed by Burke and Mudiay
Under Phil Jackson, drafting an overseas player worked out great the first time. Selecting Kristaps Porzingis with the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft has to be one of the best selections in the history of the team, as Kristaps looked like a future star right away.
In fact, Jackson was so overjoyed by his selection that he decided to do it again. He selected Frank Ntilikina with the eighth pick in the 2017 NBA Draft after passing up on Dennis Smith Jr. and Donovan Mitchell. A few days later, Jackson and the Knicks mutually parted ways.
Frank Ntilikina did not quite impress during his rookie season. He averaged 5.9 points and 3.2 assists in 21.9 minutes per game. To top it all off, he shot just 36.4 percent from the field.
On the other hand, Trey Burke and Emmanuel Mudiay did show sparks of greatness, especially when it comes to Burke. These two seem to be sufficient as the starter/backup combo on the team, which could result in Ntilikina becoming overlooked. Will Frank bounce back after a disappointing season and prove the doubters wrong? We have yet to find out.
