Even with a talented core, the New Orleans Pelicans could still use a few trades in order to upgrade a roster that is far from perfect.

The New Orleans Pelicans are coming off their best season in a decade, having advanced to the Western Conference semifinals following a first round upset of the Portland Trail Blazers.

Despite their success, many still have doubts as to just how competitive this New Orleans squad can be in 2019 after losing DeMarcus Cousins and more importantly Rajon Rondo, whose veteran point guard savvy played was huge for the team last season.

They were able to bolster the roster some by adding Elfrid Payton and Julius Randle in free agency, but there still appears to be multiple things missing for the Pelicans to truly be considered a threat out West.

More likely than not, New Orleans will find it difficult to compete on a nightly basis with the way the roster is compiled, which could lead to multiple trades near the deadline in order to get them over the hump.
