For a franchise and fanbase that is accustomed to success, the last decade has been an especially lean period for the Detroit Pistons.
It’s been 10 years since the Pistons won a game in the postseason — their last two trips ended in first-round sweeps — and the team has missed the playoffs altogether in eight of the last nine years.
Going into the 2018-19 campaign, the Pistons are a popular pick to make the postseason thanks to new and returning on-court talent, a new coaching staff, and some offseason moves that didn’t set Twitter afire, but did address some areas of need for a team that went 39-43 last season.
Rebuilding can be a long process, and the Pistons are now at the part where they’re on the verge of becoming relevant again and reintroducing themselves to the playoff picture. After that bridge is crossed, then we can talk about deep playoff runs and possibly contending for the franchise’s fourth NBA championship.
