3. Grayson Allen will earn a spot in the rotation

While many fans and analysts were critical of the Jazz drafting Grayson Allen, Donovan Mitchell was excited about adding him to the roster. While Allen was speaking with ESPN on draft night, Mitchell greeted him in the middle of the interview with a huge hug, and a supportive tweet shortly thereafter.

The relationship between the two guards hasn’t always been cheerful. Who could forget the infamous slap in the face Mitchell gifted Allen during their collegiate careers?

Though Mitchell’s endorsement isn’t enough to earn Allen a spot on the rotation, it surely doesn’t hurt his chances. Utah didn’t really struggle from beyond the arc last season, but Allen’s 3-point shooting ability will definitely be a welcome addition. He’s also underrated athletically, and his defense and reputation as a dirty player will bring toughness to Utah’s second unit.

The Jazz are known for developing their young talent, and head coach Quin Snyder has proven he isn’t afraid to play his rookies in the past. Mitchell, Royce O’Neale and Dante Exum all received substantial minutes throughout their rookie seasons. Unlike other franchises, it won’t be management or the coaching staff holding Allen back. If he can prove his value, he could become a key asset to the Jazz bench.
