3. Improve isolation scoring

Dejounte Murray will likely never primarily be an isolation scorer. That’s totally okay.

In the modern NBA (and especially on the San Antonio Spurs), a player can be great by playing within an offensive system. No longer does the best player just grab the ball and make everyone else go stand on the other side of the floor.

Defensively skilled players like Draymond Green, Marcus Smart, Ben Simmons and Patrick Beverley rarely isolate, and they can still be important players on offense. Not everyone needs to be Kevin Durant or James Harden on offense to thrive.

Still, stars need to be capable of isolating to reach the highest levels of success, especially as a guard. Guys like Stephen Curry, Paul George and Giannis Antetokounmpo aren’t known for isolation scoring, but when the team needs them, they have the ability to do it. For Murray to reach the next level of his game, he’ll need to be able to do the same.
