As the best young player on the San Antonio Spurs, Dejounte Murray is one of the most important members of the team, for the present and the future.

For some players, their goals for the upcoming season may be a mix of specific developments as a player and other, more nebulous goals, such as “play at least 30 minutes per game.” Neither type of goal is necessarily better or worse; this just reflects that most players should have short-term and long-term plans.

Dejounte Murray‘s goals are all the first type. He’s so young and already so talented, that any development he makes as a player is critically important to his career. He definitely will start at point guard for the San Antonio Spurs as long as he’s healthy, and all he has to do now is continue to prove himself on the court.

Of course, that’s easier said than done. Despite his incredible defensive performance and potential for a guard his age, his offense has left much to be desired. As a result, all three of his major goals for 2018-19 relate to offensive improvements in three distinct areas.
