Sacramento Kings: Best candidates for 2018-19 NBA awards
Most Improved Player: De’Aaron Fox
Despite being selected with the fifth overall pick back in 2017, De’Aaron Fox’s first go-around in the league went vastly under the radar.
This is not to say he played poorly. His 11.6 points and 4.4 assists per game were nothing special, but top-five picks usually get more attention over the course of the season, something Fox avoided completely.
With a year under his belt and the starting point guard spot all but certainly his, Fox should build off his rookie season and remind everyone why he was so highly touted coming out of Kentucky.
When it comes to claiming this award, however, such improvements from Fox would likely have to be drastic and possibly All-Star worthy, as there are plenty other players in the league with more talent and experience than him.
Incoming sophomores normally make noticeable tweaks to their games that pay dividends, and we’re likely to see some from Fox, but it likely won’t be enough to take the claim as the league’s Most Improved Player with better candidates out there.
