2. Shoot 38 percent from 3
Rozier has never really been a knockdown 3-point shooter, but all that changed last year. He came out of nowhere and really improved.
- 2015-16: 22.2 percent (0.7 attempts per game)
- 2016-17: 31.8 percent (2.4 attempts per game)
- 2017-18: 38.1 percent (5.0 attempts per game)
It wasn’t like Rozier upped his 3-point percentage by shooting less. He did all that by taking more attempts and making more shots. It’s pretty incredible to see him raise his 3-point percentage from a low 22.2 percent to 38.1 in just two years.
The league is transforming into a 3-point league, so it’s been nice to see Rozier adapt to the new ways and at that to his arsenal, even if his 3-point percentage dropped a bit in the playoffs.
He shot 34.7 percent in the postseason, but was taking 7.0 triples per game. It’s not hard to see why his percentage went down, seeing as how he shot about two more attempts per game. Being able to shoot the ball from distance keeps defenders honest.
Rozier is an athletic and physical guard that loves to drive to the rim, which will make it even more unpredictable for defenders if he can spread the floor too. They won’t know whether to press up or sag off. Either way, Rozier will have the ability to hurt defenses if he can maintain his 3-point shooting in the 38 percent range.
