The Philadelphia 76ers’ run was ended early in the 2018 NBA Playoffs last season, making Wilson Chandler’s addition is a lot more important than some think.

Forward Wilson Chandler virtually fell into the Philadelphia 76ers‘ laps when the Denver Nuggets traded him and a future second round pick for cash considerations back on July 6. After being the topic of numerous trade rumors, Chandler was finally moved, albeit for nothing to a rising team in the Eastern Conference.

The Sixers went from being a 28-win team in 2016-17 to a 52-win playoff squad in 2017-18. Led by 2018 Rookie of the Year Ben Simmons, Philadelphia turned in a historic season that saw them make the playoffs for the first time since 2012. They fell to the Boston Celtics in five games in the second round and entered the offseason looking to improve after falling short.

With the East wide open, Philadelphia’s strategy can change a bit. They still need to become a tougher defensive squad and that’s where Wilson Chandler comes in. Chandler has an opportunity to fill a few voids for the Sixers, he’ll just need to buy into their philosophy. He’s a veteran guy who hasn’t been the playoffs since 2013.

Chandler will have a few minor adjustments to make, but his role in the rotation certainly has the potential to lift the Philadelphia 76ers. Here’s a look at three goals for him in the 2018-19 season.
