2. Become effective finisher at the rim and improve mid-range game

One of the many upsides to Dunn’s skill-set is his ability to get to the rim. On the other side of the narrative, he wasn’t exactly proficient in terms of finishing at close range, something that vice president of basketball operations John Paxson alluded to after the season.

"“We saw a lot of good things from Kris,” Paxson told the Chicago Tribune. “He has an opportunity to be one of the best defensive guards in the league. He certainly showed that at times this year. And he showed competitiveness and an ability to get to the lane, get to the basket. His numbers in finishing around the rim are lower than they should be. For a point guard, if you can get to the basket, you need to finish at a higher level. That can only help your team.”"

What exactly was Paxson referring to? For starters, Dunn converted just 54.3 percent of his attempts that fell within the 0-3 feet range. Given the fact that Dunn can get by his primary defender on most nights, that conversion rate from point blank range has to improve.

Additionally, his mid-range game could use a little work as well, as Dunn shot 39.3 percent (3-10 feet away from the rim) and he converted just 38.7 percent of his attempts in the 10-16 feet range.

To be objective, it is important not to overlook the fact that Dunn posted respectable numbers during his second NBA season and his first in a new offense. At the same time, he will need to improve these aspects of his game if he wants to become one of the premier point guards in the league.
