3. Continue to improve 3-point shooting
During his underwhelming rookie campaign with the Timberwolves, Dunn wasn’t exactly what you would refer to as a perimeter threat by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, he converted just 28.8 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc.
Fortunately, during his first year in Chicago, Dunn wasn’t a total lost cause from distance as he shot 32.1 percent from behind the 3-point-line. This conversion rate is still not anything to write home about, but at least he managed to exceed the 30 percent threshold.
It is no secret that the 3-point shot is a huge part of Hoiberg’s offense. This sentiment is supported by the fact that the Bulls attempted 31.1 shots from beyond the arc last season, sixth-most in the league.
Bearing that in mind, Dunn will need to continue to improve in this area. It’s doubtful he’ll be a 37 or 38 percent shooter next season, but if he can connect on 34-35 percent of his looks from downtown, that will definitely be a step in the right direction.
