Orlando Magic fans are excited by what lottery pick Mohamed Bamba can bring to the team. Here are five realistic goals for his rookie season.

Despite having a relatively quiet offseason in comparison to other organizations around the league, Orlando Magic fans are quietly optimistic about what the 2018-19 NBA season may hold.

Another trip to the lottery by the end of the year seems likely, but for the first time in six years, a roadmap out of their prolonged rebuild looks to be in place. It doesn’t hurt that they’ve closed the gap on their neighbors in Miami either.

So while this season will still see more losses than wins, not to mention another first-year head coach in Steve Clifford trying to implement his vision, the Magic now have some young players worth tuning in to check out.

The newest of these is incoming rookie Mohamed Bamba, taken with the sixth pick in this summer’s draft. A center with an outrageous 7’10” wingspan, he is the kind of versatile big the front office has become enamored with.

He follows in the footsteps of Jonathan Isaac too, last season’s lottery pick who will face higher expectations this season. While the goals of Orlando are still modest, there is more expectation than before to at least be competitive.

With that being said, Bamba should have ample opportunity to show what he can do out on the court. Here are five goals for the player in his first season in the NBA.
