Milwaukee Bucks: 3 goals for Brook Lopez in 2018-19
1. Increase his rebounding numbers
While Lopez’s outside game is going to be important for the Milwaukee Bucks, his rebounding game and 7’0″ frame are going to be more important. The Bucks were bad on the boards last year. In fact, they were last in the league with 39.8 rebounds per game. They were the only team in the entire association to average fewer than 40 rebounds per game.
There were times last year when the Bucks front line was just not big enough to compete. When playing against the likes of Andre Drummond, DeAndre Jordan and Steven Adams, it was like watching kittens against lions. Lopez has been an underwhelming rebounder previously, holding a 6.8 rebounds per game average for his career.
Last year, Lopez averaged a career-low 4.0 rebounds per game. He did have a season where he averaged 3.6 per game, but that was only over five games thanks to injury. Lopez needs to average closer to his career number to help the Bucks.
Thanks to LeBron James leaving the Eastern Conference, there is an opportunity not seen in over a decade for another team to make the Finals. The Lopez signing may not get the Milwaukee Bucks to this level. However, if he can produce some of his previous level of play, this will go a long way to helping them secure a higher seed.
