Milwaukee Bucks: 3 goals for Brook Lopez in 2018-19
2. Increase playing time
Last season for the Lakers, Brook Lopez dropped to his lowest minutes per game average since he entered the NBA. Even though he started 72 games, Lopez played less than half a game at 23.5 minutes a night. This was a big reason his averages dropped to where they did.
However, now that Lopez is with the Bucks, he has a chance to re-establish his credentials as a difference-making NBA center. Last season, Milwaukee had John Henson and Thon Maker for the entire season. It also had Tyler Zeller for the last third of the season. Of the three of them, only Henson is a starting-caliber center.
For Lopez to be effective, he needs to be on the floor. To do this, he needs to outplay both Maker and Zeller, taking some of their minutes. Henson has a good thing going with the starting unit defensively, but Lopez should be able to take his minutes as the starting 5.
