2. Magic hasn’t shied away from unorthodox signings

It’s been the offseason of twists and turns for the Lakers. It looked like smooth sailing after the LeBron signing, and then Magic Johnson went off the rails by signing a few veterans who seemed like polarizing pairings.

Just look at this list of names: McGee, Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson, Michael Beasley. Is that not the most unconventional gaggle of misfits ever to find their ways onto the same roster? There’s a reason they’ve been dubbed the “Meme Team” by fans and haters alike.

It almost just makes sense to allow Bynum to make a comeback as a part of that group. Inking him to a deal would be the cherry on top of what’s been a crazy offseason for the Lakers. However, if Magic, Rob Pelinka and Luke Walton can turn the likes of McGee, Rondo, Stephenson and Beasley into a cohesive group, who’s to say Bynum can’t also fit into that equation?

If anything, being around that type of eccentricity may help him. He was always an odd ball during his NBA days, from sporting perplexing hair styles to parking in handicapped spots. It’s almost like he was tailor-made for this bunch of bizarre puzzle pieces.

Does the Lakers’ current roster need to get any weirder? Probably not. At this point, though, would another kooky character really make a big difference?
