2. Bobby Portis

Bobby Portis came on strong last season for the Chicago Bulls. The former Arkansas star averaged 13.2 points and 6.8 points per game in 2017-18, mostly off the bench. He shot 47.1 percent from the floor and 35.9 percent from beyond the 3-point line.

Now, Portis has goals to attain, including being the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year. While Lou Williams of the Los Angeles Clippers and Eric Gordon of the Houston Rockets will offer tough competition, Portis is unafraid to put himself in that discussion.

Portis is bold and plays with a tenacity that endears himself to Chicago Bulls fans. If he can channel that energy into 16 points and eight rebounds a night off the bench while shooting 38 percent from deep, he should be in the conversation for the award he covets.

Portis will be a restricted free agent after the upcoming season and will have plenty of motivation to give his best effort yet. If he gives the type of performance he’s capable of, the Bulls front office will have a tough decision to make regarding whether to keep him for the long-term.

Regardless of whether he wins any awards this season, Bobby Portis should be a huge boost for the Bulls off the bench in 2018-19.
