Keen to prove a point following an up-and-down year, here are three goals for Miami Heat combo guard Tyler Johnson in 2018-19.
After bowing out in the first round of the playoffs, questions were always going to be asked as to how the Miami Heat were going to improve their roster moving forward.
Considering he’s owed $38.5 million over the coming two seasons, it was natural that Tyler Johnson‘s name would come in discussion. With the Heat bursting at the seams in relation to both their current and future salary cap position, a role player such as Johnson would be seem a natural candidate to be shipped away.
However, the exorbitant nature of his contract, combined with a relatively subpar season means it’s extremely unlikely the Heat will find a taker in the near future. Last season, Johnson’s numbers of 11.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 28.5 minutes per game were all down on the previous year.
Despite the absence of Dion Waiters for most of the season, Johnson was unable to have the impact many felt would be the next step in his evolution as a player.
"People were like 'Who is this guy? I have to look his name up on Google.'"
