The Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers have very differently constructed rosters, and a trade could benefit both of them.

The Phoenix Suns have a lot of wings on their roster, and it’ll be hard to find playing time for all of them. Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges, Josh Jackson, Trevor Ariza and T.J. Warren are all good rotation players for any team. Davon Reed and Troy Daniels should warrant some playing time as well.

With Ryan Anderson reportedly starting at the 4 and Dragan Bender presumably getting minutes there as well, the Phoenix Suns essentially have the other seven players competing for two roster spots. With the big hole at point guard still not completely filled, that’s less than ideal.

The Los Angeles Clippers have the exact opposite problem. In Milos Teodosic, Patrick Beverley, Avery Bradley and Lou Williams, they have four borderline starters for the two backcourt positions. They just drafted Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jerome Simpson, and last year’s picks Sindarius Thornwell and Jawun Evans have shown some promise too.

Their forward rotation is a little lighter though. Danilo Gallinari and Tobias Harris are good players, but Gallo is very injury-prone. Their other guys on their depth chart — Luc Mbah a Moute, Wesley Johnson and Mike Scott — aren’t particularly inspiring. They’re all on the wrong side of 30, and not the best that a team with playoff aspirations could hope for.

Clearly, a trade where the Phoenix Suns give up a wing in return for the starting point guard they’ve been looking for is one that would be beneficial for both sides. The question is, which point guard should they target?
