3. Stanley Johnson

This is a make-or-break season for Johnson, if not for his NBA future, then at least with the team that drafted him.

Johnson was the No. 8 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, coming out of the University of Arizona drawing comparisons to fellow Wildcat product Andre Iguodala. While Johnson’s athleticism has been as advertised, and he’s shown potential to be a lockdown defender, his offensive game has been lacking.

In three years as a pro, Johnson has averaged 7.0 points per game on 37.0 percent shooting from the field. He has yet to secure the full-time starting small forward job that has seemingly been his to lose.

This season is a prove-it year for Johnson, who can become a restricted free agent in 2019. The Pistons could sign him to an extension during the season, but it speaks volumes that they haven’t already secured the services of the 22-year-old who is undeniably impressive physically, but has yet to put his entire game together.
