5. Record vs. each other

We begin by looking at the past, with the Heat currently having won 64 of their 115 regular season games. The Magic have taken the remaining 51.

So while Miami still reigns supreme and has these bragging rights in Florida, we have seen enough in recent years to think a change may be on the way.

Last season the two teams split the season series 2-2. The year before that, in 2016-17, the Magic won the season series 3-1. This despite going 29-53 that year.

Another interesting stat is that in 15 of the last 16 games between the two, going back to 2014-15, the largest margin of victory has been four points.

The only sound beating was the 10-point win the Heat inflicted on Orlando the first time they met that season.

So despite the Magic being poor throughout those years and the Heat just being a better team, the games have been very close when they’ve squared off.

Before that, the Heat enjoyed the longest win streak of the decade, beating the Magic 12 straight times from March 2012 to November 2014. This is one point to Miami no question, but the Magic have clawed some respect back in the last couple of years.
