Sixth Man of the Year: Tyler Johnson

Similar to Richardson, Tyler Johnson ascension has been wonderful to watch, going from an undrafted rookie to receiving close to 30 minutes a game.

Johnson’s numbers last season actually dipped from the previous year, but he still managed to put up a solid 11.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists, mostly coming off the bench.

Unfortunately for Johnson, even if he were to improve tremendously, it would be difficult to find touches for him due to the state of the Heat’s roster, with guys like Dion Waiters and Goran Dragic likely to take a lion’s share of the looks offensivley.

In each of the last three seasons, the Sixth Man of the Year has taken an average of 14.1 shots per game, giving them plenty of opportunities to put up numbers.

Johnson averaged 9.9 field goal attempts per game last season, and to expect such a huge leap when Miami’s roster has remained largely the same is wishful thinking.
