Cleveland Cavaliers: 5 big goals for 2018-19 NBA season
2. Establish Kevin Love as an MVP candidate
Ah, the most repetitive storyline every Cleveland Cavaliers fan has heard since the departure of LeBron James. Will Kevin Love return to his former self? Will we see the Minnesota Timberwolves monster that the Cleveland Cavaliers actually traded for?
Love is set to be the centerpiece of the team’s offense this season for the first time since he left the T-Wolves. This means Kevin Love will be averaging more than the 12.4 field goal attempts per game we got used to seeing last season, playing as LeBron’s sidekick.
With most MVP candidates currently playing in stacked teams, it is really likely that we see a first-time MVP during the 2018-19 season. Even though we cannot rule out players like James Harden, Kevin Durant and LeBron James, stacked teams usually result in a downfall in personal stats.
Will it be Giannis Antetokounmpo? Perhaps Joel Embiid? Or will Kevin Love shock the world by posting up god-like numbers while leading the Cavaliers into the playoffs?
Having just entered the fourth decade of his life, Love is still in his prime. The undeniable skillset Love possesses can be a real threat to every defense, when remaining healthy. It’s just a matter of how far he can go without being the second option.
