3. Trade away at least one bad contract

For some reason, the Cleveland Cavaliers currently have some of the worst contracts in the entire NBA. Role players getting paid like All-Stars, hurting the team’s future along the way.

During the last four seasons, players like J.R. Smith, Tristan Thompson and Iman Shumpert have all been offered excessive amounts while affecting the team much less than their paycheck did.

While Shumpert is no longer with the team, players like George Hill and Jordan Clarkson have taken over his spot, meaning the Cavs are way over the cap.

By trading away at least one of those terrible contracts, countless possibilities lie ahead. Rebuilding teams would be glad to take them on and trade their star player to the Cleveland Cavaliers (i.e., Kemba Walker), were the Cavs to include some not-so-valuable draft picks.

Additionally, the Cavaliers would clear a lot of cap space for the upcoming free agency. In a free agency class filled with superstars dissatisfied with their teams like Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard and Jimmy Butler, having cap space should be a priority for every team.
