2. Lead the Pelicans to 50-plus wins and the conference semis

Anthony Davis has never won 50 games in his career, and while that isn’t his fault, the small handful of truly generational players that have stepped onto the court have been capable of carrying any roster to 50-plus wins.

To his credit, New Orleans went 21-13 after Cousins got hurt, a 51-win pace over a full season. However, Rajon Rondo, another big factor behind that post-All-Star game push, now plays for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Outside of Davis, the entire Pelicans roster has made one All-Star Game (Jrue Holiday in 2013). The Pelicans will only go as far as Davis takes them in 2018-19.

Holiday, Randle, Mirotic and E’Twaun Moore are good players, but they shouldn’t be your seond to fifth-best players if you’re looking to win championships. Falling in the second round for the second straight year may look like a plateau, but winning a playoff series in the West will be an accomplishment for any team outside of the Warriors and Houston Rockets.

Superstars win games. Period. Davis has already shown he can do that, playoffs included, so in 2018-19, likely the first full year of his prime, he should only improve his act as a one-man wrecking crew.
