The Minnesota Timberwolves are in position to have a really nice 2018-19 NBA season. Here are their best candidates for end-of-the-season NBA awards.

The Minnesota Timberwolves finished the 2017-18 regular season with a 47-35 record — their best record since the 2003-04 season when Kevin Garnett led them to a 58-24 record.

Speaking of Kevin Garnett and the 2003-04 season – that was the last time the Wolves had a player win the MVP award. They’ve had some success more recently with other awards, however.

In 2015 and 2016, the Wolves had back-to-back Rookie of the Year winners in Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns. Of course, it’s not like they had second round picks winning Rookie of the Year awards; both Wiggins and Towns were No. 1 overall picks, so there was a fair amount of luck involved in getting those guys.

The Timberwolves had a relatively busy offseason. They re-signed Derrick Rose, and added Anthony Tolliver and James Nunnally in free agency. They also added two more pieces to their bench by way of the 2018 NBA Draft. Those two players were Josh Okogie and Keita Bates-Diop, both of whom should have relatively large roles in their rookie seasons.

The Wolves have an exciting roster heading into the 2018-19 NBA season. With that being said, let’s go through each of the major NBA awards and see which Minnesota hooper has the best chance of winning that award.
