If all goes as planned for the Los Angeles Lakers during 2019 NBA free agency, Magic Johnson will land one of these big-name superstars come next July.

The Los Angeles Lakers already made one tidal wave of a splash this past offseason with the signing of LeBron James. Believe it or not, Magic Johnson is far from done. He’s got his sights set on making another massive addition to this roster during 2019 NBA free agency.

The recent departure of Luol Deng via the stretch provision is a prime example of Magic’s maneuvering to prepare for another whale of an offseason.

Not only did unloading Deng after Sept. 1 ensure that only $6.2 million would be spread over the next three years, but the Lakers convinced him to forfeit money in the process.

The move gave the Lakers a projected $38.2 million in cap space for the 2019-20 campaign. Guess what? That’s just enough to sign a superstar to a max contract. Cheers to Johnson for yet another clever move to position this franchise for another big offseason.

That begs the question of who the Lakers will use that massive amount of cap space on? Which free agent is going to ink a max deal to join James as the latest savior of Los Angeles?
