Los Angeles Lakers: Best candidates for 2018-19 NBA awards
Most Valuable Player: LeBron James
LeBron James winning the Most Valuable Player award would make him the fifth player in franchise history to do so. James already has four MVPs under his belt, adding a fifth would only add to his already impressive legacy.
With one of the more balanced rosters of his career in a while, the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James have a big opportunity ahead of them. His versatility will come in handy but for once, James can show what he’s capable of without having to be the main ball-handler.
James already has three NBA titles under his belt two with the Miami Heat and one with the Cleveland Cavaliers, a Rookie of the Year award and the 2007-08 scoring title as a member of the Cavs.
Now, he joins the Western Conference with the likes of James Harden and the Houston Rockets, Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder and Kevin Durant and the Warriors. It’s a crowded place in the West but James seems to have embraced the challenge by jumping right in the middle of a star-studded conference.
Winning an NBA title would surprise many but for now, finishing near the top of a strong conference in 2018-19 should earn James his fourth MVP award.
