3. Showcase his versatility

As a long forward who can shoot the ball and is capable of making a pass as well, Isaac came into the league with a reputation as the kind of individual who could really thrive in today’s NBA.

While it is nice to hear Isaac described in this way, in year two the Magic need to see more out of him in these areas, which is why a personal goal should be playing in as many different positions as possible this coming year.

More from Hoops Habit

Obviously conventional roles on the court don’t really exist anymore, but Isaac should be aiming to play the 5 in smaller lineups because of his ability to protect the paint. In addition to that, he should be looking to be a threat from deep while sharing the court with centers like Bamba and Nikola Vucevic.

An added bonus would see Isaac have the ball in his hands a bit more while playing with the second unit — not quite in the same way that a guard would, but enough to free up shooters that he can hit with an easy pass.

With the Magic once again looking like a lottery team, this may be the last season in which they can let their youngsters run wild and try out strange experiments. Isaac the point-forward? It is a crazy notion, but why not give it a go for five minutes a night just to see what happens?

If all of this seems like too much, it is only because Isaac’s potential is higher than you think. After not seeing much of him last season, people are forgetting just how capable he is of unlocking all sorts of lineup styles with his versatility that could see him play the 3, the 4 or the 5.
