The New York Knicks have an intriuging young roster. Here are the best candidates for NBA awards in 2018-19.

The New York Knicks are in the midst of a rebuild, but there is a breath of fresh air in the organization. All the positions of power, from the front office down to the coaching staff, have been overhauled in the past year.

In the front office, Steve Mills, the president of basketball operations, was joined by general manager Scott Perry after the team parted ways with Phil Jackson. On the bench, David Fizdale is taking over as head coach after Jeff Hornacek was relieved of his duties.

The new brain trust has a lot of work to do as they were handed a roster without many building blocks and in cap purgatory. Since taking over, they have not parted ways with any draft picks, something Knicks fans can appreciate. They have also added some intriguing young talent to the roster.

At this stage of the rebuild, and given their salary cap situation, the Knicks need to add talent any way possible. New York has done that in the way of reclamation projects, bringing aboard former lottery picks and hoping that a change of scenery will do the trick. Mario Hezonja and Noah Vonleh fit that mold this offseason as free agent signings.

For the Knicks to make noise this season, even in the lesser Eastern Conference, they will need a lot of things to do right. Players performing above expectations would need to happen.

If New York wins some games, players could be up for some awards as well. Which players could be in the running for hardware at the end of the season? Here are the best candidates on the Knicks for each 2018-19 NBA award.
