Following an unproductive and injury-interrupted season, here are three goals for Miami Heat guard Dion Waiters in the upcoming 2018-19 NBA season.

The 2017-18 NBA season was a complete waste for Dion Waiters.

After signing a four-year deal worth up to $52 million with the Miami Heat in the summer of 2017, Waiters entered last season in full knowledge his problematic ankle would not be able to sustain the rigours involved in a full 82-game season.

Hence, it came as no surprise that following a Dec. 22 game against the Dallas Mavericks in which he played just nine minutes, Waiters eventually succumbed to the existing injury that prematurely ended his debut season with the team, back when he was an integral part of the Heat compiling a 30-11 record to conclude the season.

In his 30 appearances last season, Waiters posted 14.3 points, 3.8 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 30.6 minutes per game. However, he shot a ghastly 39.8 percent clip from the field, and just 30.6 percent from 3-point range.

Clearly, these returns are unacceptable, especially when you take into account the impact Waiters had the last time he was healthy, thus earning him his lengthy contract extension.

So in looking forward to the season ahead, here are three goals for Waiters in 2018-19.
