With the 42nd overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons selected Bruce Brown Jr. Here are three goals for his rookie season.

Bruce Brown Jr. entered his sophomore season in Miami with high expectations. A former five-star high school recruit, he looked to build upon the success of his freshman season and entered the 2018 NBA Draft as a first round prospect. Unfortunately for him, a foot injury ended his season prematurely, and relegated him to the second round of the draft.

Brown is a superb defensive guard, and has the ability to create turnovers and score in transition. He averaged 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocks per game through his collegiate career. He continued his defensive success during NBA Summer League, averaging 7.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game.

The problem with Brown is his offensive game, or lack thereof. He lacks the ability to create his own shot, and his 3-point shooting is horrendous. He shot 31.6 percent from beyond the arc at Miami, as well as a porous 19 percent during Summer League.

With the depth the Detroit Pistons have at the wing position, it’s highly unlikely that Brown receives much playing time this season. Instead of fantasizing goals of him making the rotation, we’ll outline what he needs to accomplish this season for future NBA success.

With that in mind, here’s a look at three goals for Bruce Brown Jr.’s rookie season.
