2. Justin Holiday

This is Justin Holiday’s second stint with the Chicago Bulls. There’s no doubt that the front office likes Holiday, otherwise it wouldn’t have brought him back after trading him to the New York Knicks with Derrick Rose back in 2016.

The 2017-18 season was not a good showing for Holiday. While he was a decent defender and an effective locker room leader, Holiday’s offensive performance was dreadful. Last season, Holiday averaged 12.2 points per game on a paltry 37.1 percent shooting. While playing the most minutes of his career last season, the former Washington Husky shot 38.7 percent from within the 3-point line.

This isn’t to say that Holiday, one of 3 Holiday brothers (Jrue with the New Orleans Pelicans, Aaron of the Indiana Pacers) now in the NBA, isn’t worthy of a roster spot in the league. He simply had a bad season with the Bulls and his future looks murky. Entering his age-30 season on a rebuilding team and with the drafting of Hutchison and the presence of Denzel Valentine, it’s difficult to see where (or why) Holiday will get his playing time.

At this point, the Bulls should search for a second round draft pick from a contending team hoping Holiday can bring his veteran leadership to a playoff roster.
