San Antonio Spurs: Top 10 moments of Manu Ginobili’s career
9. The Euro-step is revolutionized
Manu Ginobili gave a lot of players headaches with his style of play. He wasn’t the quickest or the most athletic, but he did have a very high basketball IQ. As a result, Ginobili adapted to the NBA game seamlessly as he revolutionized the Euro-step.
Time and time again, Ginobili would move so effortlessly through the paint, faking out some of the top defenders in the league with his patented Suro-tep. Much like Dirk Nowitzki‘s fadeaway jump shot, the move is often emulated, but it’s never same as the original. What made the move so effective was Ginobili’s ability to stop and start on a dime as he moved through the paint.
For years, Ginobili would make grown men look silly, at times drawing and-ones off of his Euro-step. It’s being used more and more now throughout the NBA but if anybody asks, it began with Manu Ginobili.
