In a deal that makes sense for both sides, here’s a trade proposition between the Philadelphia 76ers and the New York Knicks.
The Philadelphia 76ers and the New York Knicks enter the 2018-19 NBA season with vastly different outlooks.
Coming off a 52-30 season culminating in a second round playoff loss to the Boston Celtics, the Sixers are naturally full of optimism for the season ahead. Led by first-time All-Star Joel Embiid and reigning Rookie of the Year Ben Simmons, the Sixers are without question one of the rising teams in the league.
In contrast, the Knicks continue in somewhat of a rebuilding phase after missing out on the postseason for the fifth consecutive season. With a new head coach on board in David Fizdale, and a newly arrived lottery pick in Kevin Knox, Knicks followers are naturally entering the season with an open mind.
Despite coming off such a prosperous year, the Sixers’ offseason has been rather underwhelming. The absence of a president of basketball operations, following the dismissal of Bryan Colangelo, certainly didn’t help matters.
Encouragingly, the Sixers appear ready to remedy the matter, with Adrian Wojanrowski of ESPN recently tweeting the following:
Story soon on ESPN: The Philadelphia 76ers have been granted permission to interview three front office executives – Golden State’s Larry Harris, Houston’s Gersson Rosas and Utah’s Justin Zanik – for the franchise’s vacant general manager’s job.

On the other hand, while the Knicks have not been active with trade activity, their recent additions at both the draft and in free agency have been highly encouraging, and strongly indicate the franchise is heading in the right direction.
With this in mind, here’s a basic outlook at each team and why a deal makes sense.
