2. Develop chemistry with Victorious B.I.G. (Bamba, Isaac, Gordon)

Grant might be one of the most underrated passers in the league right now. His 4.6 assists per game in only 22.6 minutes proves this. His assist-to-turnover ratio (3.8) and per 36 minutes assist numbers (7.3) further this point.

The funny part about these numbers is that he really didn’t have anyone to throw the ball to in Chicago. These numbers came with limited offensive firepower and no rim-running bigs. Just imagine what he can do with Mohamed Bamba, Jonathan Isaac and Aaron Gordon flying to the rim. Dangerous.

Grant could be deadly in the pick-and-roll. While his shooting needs to improve, he’s a bigger guard. He can get into the paint with ease and dish lobs all day. This facet of his game will be particularly of interest with Bamba in the second unit.

While it looks as though Nikola Vucevic is on the trading block, if he is there game one, he will start. This leaves Bamba on the bench with the reserves, which means he and Grant will be playing a lot of minutes together. If they develop good early chemistry, this will be tantamount to the success of both players.

With this potential success could mean a move to the first unit. As mentioned before, Grant should play with both units. Thus, good chemistry with Isaac and Gordon will also be big for Orlando. With the first unit, Grant won’t be asked to score as much and can utilize his passing abilities to their fullest. Finding Gordon and Isaac in scoring positions as well as the other wings on the floor will be his biggest asset to the starters and could bump his assist numbers even more.

Developing chemistry with the three longest and highest-ceiling players on the Magic’s roster is a good idea for Jerian Grant and could make for a fun show.
